The "double Gigabit" network composed of 5g and gigabit optical network is an important part and bearing base of new infrastructure, and has become an important embodiment of the city's comprehensive strength and core competitiveness. In March this year, the Ministry of industry and information technology defined the evaluation indicators of "Gigabit city" from seven aspects: Urban gigabit optical fiber network coverage, urban 10g-pon port proportion, 5g network access rate in key places, number of 5g base stations per 10000 people, proportion of users of 500mbps and above, proportion of 5g users, and "double Gigabit" application innovation, Put forward the goal of building more than 20 "Gigabit cities" in China by 2021. At present, major cities in China have anchored the goal of "Gigabit city" and launched the construction of "double Gigabit" network.
In recent years, Sichuan has actively implemented the strategies of "strong network province" and "digital Sichuan", issued the implementation plan for coordinated development of "double Gigabit" networks (2021-2023), and vigorously promoted the construction and development of "double Gigabit" networks. In the first half of 2021, the province invested 8.655 billion yuan in industrial fixed assets, built 48000 5g base stations, 213000 10g passive optical networks (10g-pon) and above ports, and the bandwidth of Chengdu National Internet backbone direct connection points is 900gbps, realizing that all urban areas above towns and townships have gigabit optical network access capacity. There are 19.28 million 5g end users and 1.39 million Gigabit broadband users. The province's "double Gigabit" network foundation has been further consolidated, and all indicators rank in the forefront of the country. Some cities have the conditions of "Gigabit cities".
