Huawei's first fab will be put into production next year, related to PON

Huawei selected its first wafer fab in Wuhan, Hubei, and plans to start production in stages in 2022. A person familiar with the matter told AI Finance and Economics that the plant had been prepared for construction as early as 2017 and 2018. It was earlier than the United States' suppression of Huawei, and it was only recently completed.

The plant is located in the center of Wuhan Optics Valley, with a total construction area of more than 200,000 square meters. The plant will mainly produce self-developed indium phosphide optical communication chips and modules for Huawei in the future. Such chips are mainly used in Huawei's optical communication business. Huawei's optical system equipment share is currently the world's first.
